About Laptop Part Finder

Building an evidence-grounded directory of hardware components and compatibility.

Our Mission

Laptop Part Finder was created to address a critical pain point in educational IT and electronics repair: fragmented and inaccurate replacement parts listings on mass-market e-commerce platforms.

School districts manage thousands of student 1-to-1 Chromebooks. When screens crack or batteries degrade, IT technicians need reliable answers: Does this part number match our chassis? What is the voltage? And does the Google Auto Update Expiration date justify spending money on repairs?

Our Documentation Standards

Documentation Grounding: Every record links to its source: OEM documentation and Google AUE policy. We index:
  • Official OEM Field Replacement Unit (FRU) lookup portals (Lenovo, Dell, HP, Acer)
  • Manufacturer Maintenance and Service Guides
  • Google's official ChromeOS Auto Update policy portal

Understanding Google Auto Update Expiration (AUE)

Google guarantees ChromeOS updates (security patches, educational platform policies, and browser updates) for up to 10 years from the platform introduction. Repairing devices that are within months of AUE is often poor stewardship of school funds. Our directory prominently pairs hardware compatibility with official Google AUE dates so technicians can make evidence-based fleet decisions.

Open & Transparent Architecture

This directory is powered by a static-first, lightweight architecture with automated schema and citation validation. If a record lacks a public source, our build pipeline automatically flags and rejects it.
